Never Give A Statement To An Insurance Company Without Calling Your Lawyers First
Posted on Friday, November 27th, 2009 by Allan Siegel
It seems harmless to give a statement because you will simply be reciting the truth – but, resist the urge and call your lawyers first. Remember, the insurance companies are not always on your side and may not play fair. So call your team at Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel before you take any action requested of you by an insurance company.

A Lawyer's Top Ten
Posted on Wednesday, November 25th, 2009 by Allan Siegel
10. We wear t-shirts that say things like “Trust me. . . I’m a lawyer”.
9. We have identification badges to enter the local courthouses and wear them around our neck at dinner.
8. We say things like, “why are you mitigating how I feel?” during dinner . . . at home . . . to our children or significant other.
7. We read all of the documents that must be signed in the emergency room, before signing, even if we are bleeding profusely.
6. We ask (make) others listen to “a funny story that happened in court today” and we are the ONLY ones laughing.
5. We schedule time on our calendars for ourselves.
4. We love, love, love, love, legal sized yellow notepads.
3. Our idea of happy hour is talking trial strategy over martini’s . . . . and legal sized yellow notepads.
2. We use latin words like “caveat emperor” or “inter alia” when completely unnecessary.
And the number 1 thing that lawyers LOVE to do . . .
1. We label EVERYTHING, our doors, desk clocks, pen holders, shirts, ties, pens, ashtrays, frames, key chains, staplers, tape dispensers, litigation bags, calendars, and even ourselves, e.g. “esquire”.

CSCS Lawyers Attend Inaugural Law Fair For High School Students
Posted on Monday, November 23rd, 2009 by Allan Siegel
Partner Allan M. Siegel and Associate Ebony M. Robinson attended the ingaural Marshall Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project Law Fair at American University, Washington College of Law, on Saturday, November 21, 2009. The Marshall Brennan Project recruits second and third year law students to teach courses on constitutional law and juvenile justice in public high schools in the District of Columbia and Maryland. The program holds an annual high school moot court competition, which is judged by local attorneys, sitting and retired judges, and law students. This year, the program held a law fair for the first time in conjunction with the moot court competition, and high school students, their parents, and Marshall Brennan fellows could learn about different legal organizations in the area. CSCS had a table at the fair where Allan and Ebony answered questions from the students regarding what is it like to be a trial lawyer and the type of cases our firm handles. The students were very enthusiastic and the fair was extremely informative for the participants. The fair was a huge success and CSCS will participate in the program again next year. Just another example of how we are committed to educating and empowering our community . . . a practice Don Chaikin started years ago.

CSCS Warrior Beheads Enemy Combatant At Arbitration.
Posted on Friday, November 20th, 2009 by Allan Siegel
Associate Ebony M. Robinson hit a home run in a low property damage, soft tissue case pending in the District of Columbia. The client was struck in the rear while stopped on Suitland Parkway and injured her neck and back and developed headaches. The client incurred approximately $5,000 in medical bills, $1,500 in lost wages, and a minimal amount of property damage. The parties agreed to arbitrate the matter before a retired Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge who awarded the client three times her medical bills.
Just another example of how hard our lawyers work for you NO MATTER how big or small the case.

Message From Ebony M. Robinson: Mr. Chaikin…Thank You…
Posted on Wednesday, November 18th, 2009 by Allan Siegel
I never met you, but your presence was immediate and your stamp of perfection and advocacy was, and continues to be, present. Although your time on earth has come to a pass, your legacy will live on. Thank you for your contributions to the legal practice and to this law firm. I wish I could have met you, but I promise I will continue the efforts you started so very long ago and carry on the legacy of excellence you expected, and received, from all your lawyers.

When Is The Last Time You Looked In The Mirror?
Posted on Monday, November 16th, 2009 by Allan Siegel
Michael Jackson was loved by millions for his rare talent, generosity, and kindness. He was, by far, one of my favorite artists. He wrote a song once, “Man in the Mirror,” which I am sure that many of you know. He pleaded in this song that “If we Wanna Make The World A Better Place . . . . Take A Look At Yourself, And Then Make A Change.” The lawyers at Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel take a look in the mirror EVERYDAY and ask ourselves “how can we make the world a better place?” We start by being fierce advocates for our clients and obtaining justice at every level of the judicial system from the smallest to the largest case. We understand that if we want equal justice for all that we must protect our clients from unjust insurance companies and champion their causes in the Courtrooms. We challenge you to take a look in the mirror TODAY and ask yourself how you can make the world a better place.

We Assist You Every Step Of The Way- We Can Help You Set Up A Small Estate For Your Loved One
Posted on Friday, November 13th, 2009 by Allan Siegel
We are often called upon to represent individuals who have lost a loved one in a tragic accident. What many of our clients do not know is that in order to file a lawsuit as a result of the death of their loved one, a person must first qualify as a personal representative under the law, and then an estate must be set up before the litigation begins. We do not force our clients to retain another lawyer to complete this task – WE WILL DO IT FOR YOU. One less thing for you to worry about, and another reminder that we are here for you.

Law Firm Hired In Case Involving The Death Of A Motorcyclist
Posted on Friday, November 6th, 2009 by Allan Siegel
The law firm was hired to represent the mother of a deceased man who was operating a motorcycle when he was struck and killed on the roadways of Maryland. This young man, who was also the father of a newborn baby boy named after him, will never have the pleasure of seeing his child grow up. The mother of his child also retained the law firm to represent the child to assure that the child receives compensation that would have been provided during the time the child was growing up as well as for grief for the loss of his father. The law firm is proud to have been selected to represent this family and to take on the responsibility of assuring that justice is done.
