Law Firm Retained By Man Permanently, Profoundly Injured In A Tractor Trailer Crash
Friday, October 30th, 2009
Our client fired a lawyer whom he believed did not understand how to pursue his claim for justice as a result of the profound, permanent injuries he suffered when a tractor trailer entered the roadway and ran over the front of our client’s vehicle. The operator of the tractor trailer ran over the engine compartment of our client’s vehicle and then continued down the roadway until flagged down by an eyewitness. The operator of the tractor trailer then returned to the scene. Our client suffered multiple herniated discs in his back. Once a productive brick mason, who was employed consistently for the past 20 years, he can no longer work and has no reasonable expectation to be able to return to work for the rest of his life. We are proud to have been selected to represent this gentleman.

Law Firm Now Has Its Fourth Client In A Fourth Train Collision
Wednesday, October 14th, 2009
Chaikin, Sherman, Cammarata & Siegel, P.C. appears to be the only law firm that has individual clients injured in four separate train collisions or derailments. One month before the disastrous June 22, 2009 Metro collision that killed 9 people and injured many others, another Metro train derailed. To the best of our knowledge, we are the only law firm representing an individual injured in that derailment.

Trucking Companies are Frequently Underinsured.
Friday, October 9th, 2009
Not only do trucking companies disregard safety logs, the minimum insurance requirements for commercial trucks are completely inadequate to compensate those who have been seriously injured in a collision involving multiple vehicles or multiple injured individuals. The minimum insurance requirement for commercial trucks was set nearly three decades ago and has not been raised. In 1980 Congress set the level of insurance at $750,000. This amount, when adjusted for inflation, is just $292,000 in 1980 dollars. While large trucking companies may carry more than the required level of coverage, smaller companies often carry just the bare minimum. An analysis of the U.S. trucking industry found that 87% of the companies in violation of safety standards are small companies that have fleets of 10 trucks or less.

Ira Sherman Addressed a Group of Social Service Workers at the Ethiopian Community Development Center
Friday, October 2nd, 2009
Ira Sherman addressed a group of social service workers working within the immigrant communities of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas regarding the rights of immigrants to pursue justice if they are injured through the carelessness of others. Frequently, individuals who have recently come to America or are recent citizens of the United States of America do not feel comfortable pursuing justice for injuries sustained as a result of the negligence of others. Mr. Sherman explained that the cost of an attorney is guaranteed to be zero unless the law firm is successful in pursuing their claim. A client only pays a portion of the amount recovered and if there is no recovery, there is no fee. Moreover, Mr. Sherman explained that the initial consultation is free.
